- The New REGENT -

Tamworth's Palatial Theatre of Perfection

GRAND OPENING TO-MORROW AT 8 p.m.

Introduces Latest Innovations of

Modern Theatre Construction

The stage is set for the grand opening of the New Regent to-morrow evening at 8 o'clock. His Worship, the Mayor, will officially declare the new show open at that hour by the simple yet impressive ceremony of cutting a ribbon to allow the curtains to be opened. Adding considerably to the gala atmosphere of the evening will be a broadcast description of the arrival of guests from the theatre vestibule by Station 2TM, which incidentally is a feature introduced for the first time in Tamworth.

The new Regent, by the reason of the fact that it has been built after the advent of talkies has been designed with peculiar requirement of sound as the basic plan with the natural result that from every seat the dialogue can b e heard with ease and perfect clarity. The occupant of each seat too is provided with a clear screen view departing the necessity of dodging heads of the patrons in seats directly in front. The new theatre is definitely the last word in modern construction and falls into line with the best of big city shows. Tamworth picture patrons are indeed fortunate to have such a comfortable and intimate theatre in which to partake of their favorite recreation. Perhaps the most pleasing feature of the new show is the installation of a modern air conditioning plant which in summer months keeps the inside temperature at 68 - 70 degrees providing a welcome relief from the outside heat. Because of this, patrons are able to sit in comfortable surroundings and enjoy the screen entertainment. In the winter months too per medium of this most modern appliance, the theatre will be scientifically heated by gas which will assure a cosy warmth and protection from the cold outside air. This plant is the first of its kind to be installed in an amusement house and it is certain that patrons will appreciate this excellent service. While on the subject of service, the new Regent offers many outstanding innovations that will win popular appeal. For instance, the Crying Room with its excellent appointments provides a soundproof theatrette for mothers to take baby should it become a little irritable. Then there are the deaf aids which assure perfect hearing to those who are slightly deaf. These marvelous appliances can be personally controlled so as to allow sufficient volume for their users. In addition to these brilliant service features, there will be a highly trained and courteous staff who will attend to the patrons every need and the theatre management feel confident that not one little thing has been overlooked that may add to the patron's comfort. While the comfort of patrons has been primary consideration, a wealth of thought has been lavished on the artistic qualities of the interior decorations which strike an entirely new note aesthetically in Tamworth. The soft pastel tonings of the walls and ceilings are brilliantly illuminated by concealed lighting creating a most restful atmosphere. To elaborate too fully on this would rob visitors of many thrilling surprises that are in store for them at the new Tamworth show.

Another feature of the great importance to Regent patrons is the film supply. The inaugural entertainment has been carefully selected and includes "Make a Wish starring the golden voiced wonder of the screen Bobb Breen who essays his best role to date. Very able support is given the young star by an excellent cast of seasoned players headed by Basil Rathbone, Marton Claire and Henry Armetta. "Love is News" will be the second feature on the programme. Feature beautiful Loretta Young with Tyronne Power, Don Amechee and Slim Summerville. "Love is News" is streamlined society comedy that will keep you in fits of laughter from start to finish. A number of selected short features and newsreels will complete a most enjoyable evening's entertainment.
